Information for Passengers
The following rules and regulations. provided for the comfort and safety of passengers, should he strictly observed.
Passengers are kindly requested to comply with the orders of the captain and his officers who are responsible for the safety of the ship and the passengers.
Berthing of Passengers. The purser only is authorized to dispose of any vacant accommodations on board. Any transfer of accommodations (if higher priced upon payment of the difference) can be arranged by the purser only.
Meals. Cabin Passengers are served in the Dining Saloon:
- Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Lunch from. 12.30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Dinner from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Children are served in the Children's Dining Room:
- Breakfast from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m.
- Lunch at 12 noon
- Dinner at 6 p. m.
Servants, not attending children, are served in the Children's Dining Room:
- Breakfast from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m.
- Lunch at 1 p.m.
- Dinner at 7 p.m.
Tables, as well as seats, may be reserved in advance upon application to the Chief Steward.
Meals are served in the cabin or on deck only if the passenger's presence in the Dining Room is prevented by sickness. The Dining Room is open until 11 p. m.
Baggage. Only small baggage and hand luggage in limited quantity may be taken into the stateroom. Large Trunks and other heavy baggage must be stored in the baggage room, to which passengers have access daily accompanied by an officer or the baggage master.
Money, valuables, documents, etc., duly sealed or enclosed in an envelope bearing the name of the owner, should be handed to the purser for safe keeping but without any responsibility on the part of the Company. The purser will furnish a receipt.
Library. Books, properly catalogued, are at the disposal of the passengers in the library on board.
Medical Attention. In case of illness contracted on board the ship's physician will attend the passengers free of charge.
Bath-Rooms. Passengers wishing to register for the bathrooms, are requested to place their names and the hour of bathing on the list in the anteroom of the bathrooms.
Barber. A fixed tariff will be found in the Barbershop.
Photographer. The photographer is authorized to charge for his service in accordance with printed tariff.
Cigars, Cigarettes and Playing Cards are obtainable in the Smoking-Room at fixed prices.
Smoking is permitted in the Smoking-Room and on deck only. It is strictly prohibited below deck, in the saloon or in the state-rooms.
Letters and Telegrams. The Chief Steward has charge of the distribution of incoming mail. Letters for passengers will be brought on board before the passengers land. Passengers should personally ascertain whether there is any mail for them before leaving the ship.
Passengers are invited to leave their address with the Chief- Steward for later mail, to be redirected and forwarded.
Letters and telegrams may be dispatched in care of any of the company's agencies.
Deck Chairs and Steamer Rugs may be hired on board upon application to the Deck-Steward at a rental of $1.50.
Games, Dancing, and other Amusements are provided on board.
Any complaints or criticism of service should be submitted to the Chief Steward, to the Purser or if necessary, to the Captain at the time of his daily round.
Wireless Station
The Wireless Station on board this steamer is permanently in communication with all Coast Stations either directly or via passing steamers.
Full information regarding the dispatch of wireless messages, length of time required for transmission and rates may be obtained free of charge at the wireless station on board.
A daily bulletin will be furnished with news received by wireless.
