Pleasure Cruises

Arranged by the Hamburg America Line

Pleasure Cruises were inaugurated by the Hamburg America Line over 20 years ago, and since then, they have rapidly approached perfection through the frequent introduction of fresh itineraries and the judicious use of all newly gained experience.

Such cruises and such vessels represent travel as the traveler would have it. They embody his point of view, with which the Line is now so thoroughly familiar. It is safe to say that the carefully selected itineraries and the splendid vessels, with their manifold accommodations, meet the particular taste and requirements of the individual tourist as adequately as if specially arranged for his personal benefit. Throughout the entire cruise he finds his every want anticipated.

The cruising vessels of the HAMBURG-AMERICAN LINE have been built especially for these interesting and extended voyages. Experience taught the advisability of providing vessels possessing exceptional accommodation and equipment, in preference to the conventional types of ocean steamships. It was realized that these vessels would practically be the home of the tourist for extended periods of time.

All particulars concerning the itineraries and fares are contained in the special pamphlets of the Hamburg America Line, obtainable at their Offices or agencies.

Two Grand Cruises “Around The World”

Arrangements are being made by the Hamburg America Line for two cruises of about three and one-half months duration each “Around the World,” the first to leave from New York on October 21, 1911, and the second from San Francisco on February 6, 1912. These cruises will be made by the large, new, transatlantic liner “Cleveland.” The rates will be from $650.00 and upward, including1 shore excursions, railway and carriage fares, hotel accommodations with meals, guides’ fees, etc.

The Hamburg America Line Was Founded In 1847. It owns a fleet of 171 large ocean-steamers, 217 steam-launches, tugs and lighters, aggregating- together, with the ships in course of construction, 388 vessels, registering over 1,000,000 tons. Its services embrace the entire globe.

The Marconi Wireless Telegraph Service

The Marconi Station on board is almost daily in communication with any part of the world either directly through the shore-stations, or indirectly by means of passing ships. The names of the shore-stations and of the ships with which communication is expected during the day are posted every morning in different parts of the ship.

The Hamburg America Line is not responsible for the transmission of the telegrams.
Passengers and their friends are informed that an office of “La Compagnie Franjaise maritime et coloniale de Telegraphie sans fil” has been opened in Paris at 35 Boulevard des Capucines (opposite Rue Scribe) for the special purpose of accepting wireless messages for transmission through Marconi Coast Stations to passengers on steamers fitted with Marconi apparatus.
All information regarding tariffs and rates can be obtained on application to the Marconi Station on board, which is situated on the Boat Deck, or in one of the following offices:

London, W. C.

Watergate House, Adelphi: The Marconi International Marine Communication Co. Ltd.

Brussels

19 Rue Br£derode: La Compagnie de T<51<5graphie sans fil.

Rome

Corso Vittorio Emanuele, 317: Compagnia Internazionale Marconi per le comunicazioni

arittime.

The telegrams from shore to ship should be addressed as follows and must reach in good time the shore stations from which they will be transmitted to the ships:

1. Name of passenger.
2. Name of ship preceded by the word “steamer.”
3. Telegraphic address of the shore station by the intermediary of which the telegram is to be forwarded.

Names of the wireless stations in Europe: Cuxhaven, Norddeich, Borkum, Scheveningen (Netherlands), North Foreland (near Dover), Niton (Isle of Wight), Lizard (England), Crookhaven (Ireland).
Names of the wireless stations in America: Cape Race (Newfoundland), Sable Island (Nova Scotia), Siasconset (Massachusetts), Sagaponack (New York) and Sea Gate (New York).

The Reisebureau der Hamburg-Amerika Linie
