Welch's Grape Juice Company
Welch’s gives the best results of any Grape Juice, for the following reasons: It is pressed from fresh, full-ripe Concord Grapes on the spot where grown. Careful and improved methods are used which transfer the juice from the luscious cluster to the bottle, unchanged by addition or subtraction.
Welch’s Grape Juice retains the natural grape aroma, flavor, and color to a marked degree. It is unsurpassed in richness of food properties.

Welch's World-Renowned Grape Juice
We have just had the pleasure of again sampling some bottles of Welch's famous and peerless grape juice, prepared by the Welch Grape Juice Co., Westfield, N.Y., and we can say from our extensive experience with grape juice that these samples were far superior to any other we have ever drank.
The Welch Grape Juice Co. was for many years located at Vineland, N. J., where Dr. Welch established the business in a small way in 1869, from which it grew to such large proportions that they moved the business to Westfield, N. Y., where they could have all the advantages of the Chautauqua Concord grape belt.
The original purpose of Welch's Grape Juice was as an unfermented Communion Wine. Still, physicians and others asked, "Why does not this pure and unfermented Grape Juice possess these same valuable properties that Concord Grapes are known to have, and why should it not be used in preference to fermented wine?" Welch's Grape Juice was prescribed in cases of sickness with marked beneficial results.
All these excellent qualities we realized in the samples of Welch's Grape Juice and our high recommendation of its superior excellence, we can add that in its preparation, fermentation is prevented by the process of pasteurizing by heat—no antiseptic or chemical is used. Neither the grapes nor the juice is boiled—the juice is just heated to sterilize, then sealed in the bottle—in glass only—much the same process at this point as that employed by the housewife in canning fruit.
Welch's Grape Juice is absolutely pure, free from alcohol, antiseptics, or any addition or adulteration. It is always put in new bottles, and no second-hand bottles are ever used, not even their own bottles.
Dr. Felix Oswald says: "In no other form can the human organism absorb so large a quantity of blood-purifying liquids with such a minimum of distressing after-effects. The expurgated fluid reaches every part of the system, rinsing out morbid humor and restoring congested organs to a healthy state of functional capacity."
In Germany, there is a recognized cure for all wasting diseases, known as the "Grape Cure." It consists of a diet of fresh grapes. There are thousands of authentic cases where this diet, faithfully carried out, has cured the most serious maladies.
They make only one quality of grape juice—the best. Of course, people want the best quality of grape juice when it is to be used in cases of sickness—where life may be at stake—but they believe it to be just as important to have the best, no matter for what purpose the grape juice is to be used. If used as a beverage or in desserts, health is at stake. The best costs you no more.
While the bloom of freshness is still on the grapes, they are carefully sorted, the stems removed, and the juice extracted under a pressure of 80 tons. The unchanged juice is quickly sterilized by heat and stored in hermetically sealed bottles with no antiseptic, the entire process being a matter of minutes.
The result is that Welch's Grape Juice is unequaled for delicious flavor, delicate aroma, and beautiful color, with all the food value retained. Welch's is as free from ferment and addition as the grape in the cluster.
Those who have studied the relative values and uses of foods declare that fruit should be prominent in humankind's daily diet, and grapes are first on the list of fruits.
For Welch's Grape Juice, only full-ripe Concord Grapes are used, which are grapes that have stored an abundance of natural grape sugar. Sugar is the most important food element in the grape. Still, there is no cloying sweetness, for nature combines the most delicate and delicious fruit acids with it. Because of its purity and excellence, Welch's Grape Juice has been called "Nature's Finest Food and Drink."
In wine and light-colored, translucent grape juice, food properties have been sacrificed to obtain the light color. Welch's embodies all the food properties of the rich, dark-colored Concord, with the skins, seeds, and fibrous pulp eliminated.
Physicians prescribe Welch's Grape Juice as an easily digested food in sickness and convalescence. Your doctor will advise you to use it in measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria, and all children's fevers when water is tasteless and when milk and meat preparations are dull to the palate.
In such cases, a drink of Welch's Grape Juice bought by the mother's hand to the little mouths will bring refreshment and make the eyes sparkle, and this is when all other nourishment will be rejected.
Medicine is a good thing in the physician's hands. Still, poor stuff is given indiscriminately by people who do not know. You eat too much, then dose with a "laxative." You drink too much, then dose with a "liver pill."
You work too hard, suffer from nervous headaches and irregularities, and dose with "caffeine" or "headache powders." These violent changes and reactions are more than the body can stand. Its strength is averted.
You are soon tired out and exhausted. It is not "tonics" and "purifiers" and "digestors" and "pills" that you need. Your system needs rest—rest of the digestive organs, rest of the nerves, rest of the brain. In such cases, Welch's Grape Juice takes hold as nothing else will.
Most of the Protestant Churches of this country use Welch's Grape Juice at the Sacrament; the popularity of Welch's at the soda fountain is rapidly growing, but it is in the home as a delicious and healthful temperance drink and as an aid in preparing "Delicious Drinks and Dainty Dishes" that Welch's Grape Juice finds greatest favor.
