BAGGAGE (GENERAL)

Only hand baggage and steamer trunks can be taken into the cabins; large pieces will be stored in the baggage hold. Passengers have access to the Baggage room daily at fixed hours. Children have no admittance to the Baggage room.

Any information regarding Baggage may be obtained from the Baggage Master.
Passengers bound for Europe, who wish to store their baggage at Boulogne-sur-Mer or Rotterdam until their return voyage, can leave same with the Baggage-Master who will issue a check for every piece of baggage thus received. No charge will be made for storage at Boulogne-Sur-Mer or Rotterdam.

On the voyage from New York to Rotterdam, baggage is accepted by the Baggage Master for expressage by fast or slow freight to places in Holland and, if possible, also to places in other countries. Charges will be collected upon delivery, except in case of baggage checked through on board to places in Holland by rail (passengers' bag' gage), for which the fare will be collected by the Baggage Master against delivery of a check.

If so desired the Company undertakes to forward baggage, hand baggage excepted, from its dock to the rail' way station free of charge, but cannot accept any responsibility as to the hour of delivery at the station.

Passengers are earnestly requested to look out themselves for their hand baggage, no responsibility being assumed in respect thereof by the company.

Passengers are equally cautioned to be very careful in the disposal of their small baggage, more especially during embarkation or stay in port, such with a view to the many unknown persons on board at that time.

With reference to the foregoing the attention of Passengers is called to the fact that baggage can be insured at the offices as well as on board the steamers of the Company.

For information please apply to the Purser or to the Baggage Master

In London, the STCA representative will also be able to put passengers in touch with a 24 hour film developing service and a number of advantageous shopping addresses.

MAIL

Passengers may have their mail sent in care of the Holland America Line Paris or London offices from which points it will be forwarded to you at your designation throughout the summer.

LANDING ARRANGEMENTS

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PASSENGERS LANDING AT PLYMOUTH.

A special train will be run direct from Plymouth to London as soon after debarkation as possible, provided the number of passengers warrants it. The run takes about 4 hours. The third class rail fare is $7.85 (there is no second class), first class $12.50. There is a daily motor coach service from Plymouth to London, leaving Plymouth at 9.00 A. M. and arriving in London 11 Zi hours later. Cost about $5.00. Railroad tickets to London are sold at the Purser's office.

BAGGAGE

Passengers disembarking at Plymouth are requested to claim from the Baggage Master or Room Steward baggage-labels bearing the first letter of their surname; it is most important that these labels be attached to each piece of hand baggage as this will facilitate the efficient handling of same upon arrival at the Pier at Plymouth.

As soon as the tender comes alongside the Pier, porters will come on board and transfer all baggage to the Customs warehouse where it will be deposited under letter boards arranged in alphabetical order. When the baggage has been sorted in the warehouse, porters will conduct the passengers to the Customs platforms where the passengers' baggage will be found under the appropriate initial.

Passengers are earnestly requested to look out for their own hand baggage, as the Company assumes no responsibility for it.

When the baggage has been cleared by the Customs authorities the porters will convey same to the train. This transfer is at the passengers' expense.

It is essential that passengers should accompany the porters with their baggage in order that same may be properly checked by the Railway Officials and correctly labeled for destination.

Passengers should instruct the porters as to which pieces of hand baggage they desire placed in their traveling compartment; all heavy baggage will be placed in the Baggage van.

It should be understood that the Company, whilst taking every precaution for the safe handling of passengers' baggage, does not take any responsibility for same and the above arrangements are made solely for the passengers' convenience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PASSENGERS LANDING AT BOULOGNE-SUR-MER

A special train to Paris is dispatched as soon after debarkation as possible. The run takes about 3 hours. The Third Class fare is $2.00 (but there is no Third Class on the special boat train), the Second Class $3.25, the First Class $5.00.

There are several through trains from Boulogne-sur-Mer to German, Swiss and Italian points. Further information may be had from the Purser. Railroad tickets to Paris are sold at Purser's Office.

BAGGAGE

Through special concession granted by the French Customs authorities, the Holland-America Line has been able to arrange for the Customs examination of the hand
baggage of its passengers on the special train en route to Paris, thus saving passengers considerable delay and inconvenience.

Passengers disembarking at Boulogne-sur-Mer are requested to claim from the Baggage Master or Room Steward baggage labels bearing the first letter of their surname; it is most important that these labels be attached to each piece of hand baggage as this will facilitate the efficient handling of same upon arrival at the Dock at Boulogne-sur-Mer.

As soon as the tender comes alongside the quay, the porters will come on board and carry all hand baggage to the platform alongside the special train to Paris, where it will be deposited under letter-boards arranged in alphabetical order. Passengers should claim their baggage on this platform at the first letter of their surname and instruct the porters to carry it from there to their seats in the train (or the Customs room in case they are not taking the special train.)

As the Customs examination of hand baggage of passengers for Paris will take place in the special train, such baggage need not go through the Customs room, but can be placed in the train as soon as passengers have claimed it on the platform alongside the special train.
Passengers who are not proceeding to Paris in the special train must have their hand baggage cleared through Customs at Boulogne and on claiming it on the platform should instruct the porter to carry it to the Customs room.

Passengers travelling to Paris are respectfully requested to check their heavy baggage to that city on board ship, as otherwise such baggage cannot be forwarded by the same special train by which passengers are conveyed to Paris and can only be forwarded by a later train.

It should be understood that the Company while taking every precaution for the safe handling of passengers' hand- baggage, does not take any responsibility for same and the above arrangements are made solely for the passengers' convenience.

ROTTERDAM

Steamers dock at the Company's piers in the heart of Rotterdam. There is a three hour sail up the beautiful New Waterway between the North Sea and Rotterdam. It is as well the gateway to Central Europe, there being through trains and airplane services to most Continental points.

LANDING CARDS AND PASSPORTS

Passengers must present their landing cards for Plymouth to the Immigration Officer for endorsement before leaving the vessel. At Boulogne-sur-Mer and Rotterdam landing cards will be issued to passengers by the passport officers before landing. Landing cards must be surrendered when leaving the steamer. Passports must also be shown at ports of landing.

RETURN TICKETS

All passengers holding round trip tickets must register their return tickets at one of the Company's European Offices at least three weeks before sailing. All passengers sailing from France and England must also call at the Paris or Boulogne-sur-Mer or London or Southampton offices respectively to obtain embarkation cards and boat' train tickets. Passengers are requested to attend to this matter as soon after arrival in Europe as possible in order to avoid congestion immediately before sailing. Holland-America Line European offices are on the following page.
