1919 Vintage Menus Archival Collection
Vintage menus for 1919 in the GG Archives collection represent the souvenir breakfast, luncheon, dinner, daily, private party, special occasion, and specialty menus provided to the passengers during their voyage.
Many of these souvenir menus have disappeared over the years. Our collection contains a sampling of menus initially produced and printed by the steamship lines. They are often used to illustrate family history books for immigrants from this time. The menus are organized in date order.
Post World War I Breakfast Bill of Fare Card from the RMS Celtic of the White Star Line offers typical breakfast fare of Eggs, Saratoga Potatoes, Broiled Wiltshire Bacon and Broiled Palethorpe Sausage with Savoury Rice.
Vintage Dinner Menu Card from 6 July 1919 on board the RMS Celtic of the White Star Line featured a limited Menu including Potage Brunoise, Boiled Salmon-Cucumber Hollandaise, and Brandy & Hard Sauce for dessert. The reverse side contained handwritten notaions from the passenger.
