1911 Vintage Menus Archival Collection
Vintage menus for 1911 in the GG Archives collection represent the souvenir breakfast, luncheon, dinner, daily, private party, special occasion, and specialty menus provided to the passengers during their voyage.
Many of these souvenir menus have disappeared over the years. Our collection contains a sampling of menus initially produced and printed by the steamship lines. They are often used to illustrate family history books for immigrants from this time. The menus are organized in date order.
Vintage Breakfast Bill of Fare Card from circa 1911 on board the SS Victoria Luise of the Hamburg America Line featured an impressively large selection of items including Scrambled Eggs with Morils, with Mushrooms, Fried Eggs with Ham or Bacon, and Broiled Salt Mackerels. The reverse side of the Bill of Fare was printed in German.
Vintage Tea Menu from 6 September 1911 on board the SS Carpathia of the Cunard Line featured Broiled Salmon Steaks, Pork Chops with Paprika, and Vanilla Cream and Conserve for dessert.
