1946 Bilder Vi Ikke Må Glemme by Hans Heiberg og Ulf Johns, © 1946, J.W. Cappelens Forlag, Oslo, Norge, Hardcover, 159 Pages. Photographs taken during the German occupation of Norway during World War II.

Synopsis

The book consists of a rich selection of photographs and facsimiles from the years of occupation, collected by Ulf Johns (1920-2007) and Hans Heiberg (1904-1978) after the liberation from the German occupation in 1945. The editors write in the preface that the intention has been to convey "a series of images in support of memory, authentic glimpses from the various phases of development, from the days of the assault in 1940 to the liberation, snapshots that should not be forgotten."

Forword

This selection of photos from the years of occupation in Norway was collected by Ulf Johns and Hans Heiberg after the liberation, but due to various circumstances, the book will only be sent out now.

It can certainly be said that the selection seems both random and scattered in relation to our experiences during the war. But the intention has not been to provide an exhaustive picture book from the five war years - the intention is to provide a series of pictures in support of memory, authentic glimpses from the various phases of development, from the days of the invasion in 1940 to the liberation, snapshots that should not be forgotten.

Daily newspapers and illustrated magazines are usually thrown away after reading, but this pictorial material may make sense to store and place on the bookshelf, because it reminds us of things we need to remember.
