Orduna (1914) Royal Mail Line (British)

Built by Harland & Wolff, Ltd., Belfast, Ireland. Tonnage: 15,507. Dimensions: 550' x 67'. Triple-screw, 15 knots. Triple expansion engines and steam turbine. Two masts and one funnel. First Hamburg-Southampton-Cherbourg-New York sailing, May 28, 1921. Resold back to Pacific Steam Navigation Company in 1927. Fate: Scrapped in 1951. Sister ships: Orbita and Orea. 1923 - RMSP Cabin Liners to Europe

Believed to be one of the earliest brochures produced by the RMSP to promote their newly acquired ships Orbita, Orca, and Orduña, in 1923 provides numerous interior photographs. The ships were only operated by RMSP for 3 years before being resold to the PSNCo in 1926.

The Folks Behind the GG Archives

The GG Archives is the work and passion of two people, Paul Gjenvick, a professional archivist, and Evelyne Gjenvick, a curator. Paul earned a Masters of Archival Studies - a terminal degree from Clayton State University in Georgia, where he studied under renowned archivist Richard Pearce-Moses. Our research into the RMS Laconia and SS Bergensfjord, the ships that brought two members of the Gjønvik family from Norway to the United States in the early 20th century, has helped us design our site for other genealogists. The extent of original materials at the GG Archives can be very beneficial when researching your family's migration from Europe.
