Photographs from the Annual Report of the Chief Signal Officer

Photographs from the Report of the Chief Signal Officer, United States Army, to The Secretary of War, 1919. Because the Army had to handle an immense amount of telephonic communication with the French armies on its right and left, with the French corps in the Army, with the French group of troops, and finally with the General Headquarters, it is evident that an essential requirement for these Army operators was the ability to speak French as well as they spoke English.
