Bavarian (1899) Allan Line

Built by Wm. Denny & Bros., Ltd., Dumbarton, Scotland. Tonnage: 10,376. Dimensions: 501' x 59'. Propulsion: Twin-screw, 16 knots. Triple expansion engines. Masts and Funnels: Two masts and one funnel. Passengers: 240 first, 220 second, 1,000 third. Maiden voyage: Liverpool-Quebec-Montreal, August 24, 1899. Fate: Grounded near Montreal, November 3, 1905, and dismantled for scrap where she lay in 1907. Sister ship: Tunisian. Comments: The Bavarian was first ship in the Canadian trade to exceed 10,000 tons, also the first twin-screw Allan Line steamship. The Corsican was built to replace the Bavarian, which had been wrecked.
