Atlantic Transport Line – SS Minnekahda

Tourist Class Passenger List
London to New York via Boulogne-sur-Mer
3 September 1927

This passenger list was issued for the SS Minnekahda, part of the Atlantic Transport Line’s “M” class vessels, sailing westbound from London to New York in September 1927 under Captain J. Jenson (LCDR, USNRF). The front cover features a detailed illustration of a single-funneled, two-masted steamship, with “Passenger List” above and “Atlantic Transport Line – London to New York Direct” beneath. The back cover pairs the ATL flag with the company’s signature chain link design, symbolizing the connection between London and New York.

The contents include a map of New York City, officer listings, sailing schedules, fleet information, and a complete eight-part passenger roster, along with an unused Track Chart and Memorandum of Log. Unlike some annotated examples, this copy remains unmarked by its original passenger.
Among those documented were several distinguished individuals: Dr. Harold D. Arnold, Ph.D. (1883–1933), pioneer in vacuum tube electronics; Prof. Morris Barker Crawford (1882–1969), art historian; Rt. Rev. Bishop Benjamin Franklin Price Ivins (1884–1962); and Hon. Charles W. Stapleton (1853–1935), a noted judge and public figure, alongside other academics, clergymen, and physicians.

Condition: Good, with light creasing from bends on the corners of the covers.

This passenger list illustrates the social, professional, and religious diversity of transatlantic travel in the 1920s, offering both artistic appeal and valuable genealogical context.
