SS Rijndam Vintage Menu Collection

Vintage menus for the SS Rijndam in the GG Archives collection represent the souvenir breakfast, luncheon, dinner, daily, private party, special occasion, and specialty menus provided to the passengers during their voyage. Many of these souvenir menus have disappeared over the years.

1922-10-11 SS Rijndam Dinner Menu

Ornate Vintage Dinner Menu from Wednesday, 11 October 1922 on board the SS Rijndam of the Holland-America Line featured Salmon slices à la butler Apples Natural, Beef tongue braised à la Choisy, and Suchard Cake for dessert. The Menu, written in French, has been translated to English. A Music Program was included with this Menu.

Our collection contains a sampling of menus initially produced and printed by the steamship lines. They are often used to illustrate family history books for immigrants from this time.
