SS Pretoria Vintage Menu Collection
Vintage menus for the SS Pretoria in the GG Archives collection represent the souvenir breakfast, luncheon, dinner, daily, private party, special occasion, and specialty menus provided to the passengers during their voyage. Many of these souvenir menus have disappeared over the years.
1905-05-26 SS Pretoria Dinner Menu
Vintage Dinner Menu from Friday, 26 May 1905 on board the SS Pretoria of the Hamburg America Line featured Striped Bass à la Meunière, Saddle of Veal, Wax Beans, and Mixed Ice Cream for dessert. The Menu, printed in English and German, included a Concert Program.
Our collection contains a sampling of menus initially produced and printed by the steamship lines. They are often used to illustrate family history books for immigrants from this time.
