Vintage Postcards - Nedre Lerfos - Trondheim, Norway
The municipality of Trondhjem built a new power station in 1907 due to the increase in demand for electric power. The waterfall of Nedre Lerfos (aka Lille Leirfoss, Lille Lerfos, Nedre Leirfossen, Nedre Lerfoss) was utilized. It is calculated to yield about 6,000 horsepower. The work was finished the following year. The town then had a surplus power of about 3,000 horsepower to power new industries. The river regulation is also projected, and will, without doubt, be carried out soon. This was about treble the amount of power at the town's disposal.
